Water and Mitigation: From Science to Climate Action

Venue:  Water Pavilion – Hosted by SIWI, UNICEF, 50L Home Coalition, and Xylem
Date: 1 November
Time: 14:00-15:30 GMT
Description: This session illustrates water’s essential role in climate mitigation planning. It will explore opportunities for water management to reduce emissions and potential risks to be avoided to ensure the successful implementation of mitigation measures. Early analysis of the new or enhanced NDC’s completed since January 2019 suggests that the role of nature-based solutions in mitigation is increasingly recognized by parties to the Convention. Approximately 45% of 80 Non-Annex 1 parties have included measures around NBS and this intervention explores how these intersect with other water-related measures contained in NDC’s.
