Location: Auditorium A, Business Pavilion, Blue Zone (Zone C, Area 5,  lot n. 118)
Host: WBCSD (Natural Climate Solutions Alliance) and IUCN
Date: 11 November 2022
Time: 14:45–15:45 (EET)

Description: The urgency of the climate crisis calls for businesses to demonstrate leadership by counterbalancing their unabated emissions year on year through the purchase and retirement of Nature-based Solutions avoidance and removal of voluntary carbon credits. However, it is critical that Natural Climate Solutions (NCS) are of high quality, that is they must go above and beyond the delivery of high-integrity carbon credits by resulting in a gain to biodiversity and ecosystem integrity and providing substantive social and economic benefits for local communities and Indigenous Peoples. This session will focus on the procurement phase of NCS voluntary credits. In particular, it will provide the audience with insight into different tools and approaches available to corporates interested in purchasing high-quality NCS on the voluntary carbon market.
