BuildingToCOP: financing a net zero built environment

Location: Buildings Pavilion (Zone C, Area 5,  lot n. 113)
Host: WBCSD and the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC) co-leading as part of the BuildingToCOP coalition
Date: 9 November 2022
Time: 15:00–18:00 (EET)

Description: At COP26, over USD $130 trillion of capital was committed to the net-zero transition through the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ). To achieve ambitious goals and net zero, financial institutions must leverage financing and investing decisions to influence industries and address the financed emissions across their portfolios, including 40% of the global carbon emissions that the built environment contributes to.

This thematic session led by WBCSD and the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC) as part of the BuildingToCOP Coalition will showcase leadership and best practices across actors in the finance sector in transitioning to net zero buildings. It will highlight the importance of data collection and taking a whole life carbon approach to financial stakeholders and the implications on property valuations while underlining outstanding action areas and future priorities.
