Accelerating Net Zero and Nature Positive business contributions through land-based solutions

Location: Nature Zone (Zone C, P128)
Host: WBCSD – Nature & Nature-based Solutions, Forest Solutions Group (FSG), One Planet Business for Biodiversity (OP2B)
Date: 16 November 2022
Time: 10:30–12:00 (EET)

Description: This session will discuss business role in catalyzing transformative actions that contribute to nature and climate imperatives across their value chains and broader operating environment, in collaboration with actors along the value chain and other key stakeholders.

The session will focus on land-based value-chains, including forestry, food, and agriculture sectors, which have some of the highest impacts and exposure to the effects of climate change and nature loss, to discuss how they address these ensuing risks, and leverage the opportunities to contribute to the global transition to a Net Zero and a Nature-Positive economy.

Representatives from each of these value chains will share illustrative examples of transformative actions they are driving to contribute towards a Net Zero, Nature Positive, and more equitable future, including specific examples of action in the African continent. Non-state actors, including business, play a key role in accelerating solutions and developing integrated strategies that deliver for both climate and nature. In this session, we aim to explore some specific examples of business action to move to more resilient and regenerative practices, as well as stimulating discussion on collaboration across private sector, civil society, finance and policy to deliver on the ambitions set by Paris Agreement and the upcoming post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework.
