Climate finance for biodiversity conservation

Location: Hub Space at Place Québec
Host: Natural Climate Solutions Alliance (NCSA)
Date: 8 December 2022
Time:  13:00 – 13:45 EST

Description: Investments in Natural Climate Solutions (NCS) will not only benefit climate mitigation but also contribute to closing the gap in financing biodiversity conservation. However, despite the central role played by nature in climate mitigation, investment stands at approximately US$133 billion compared to the estimated $500 billion it will take to achieve true mitigation potential.

This session will provide an opportunity to discuss what strategies can we deploy to scale private sector investment in high-quality NCS so to raise the contribution not only to climate mitigation but also to biodiversity conservation. How can the risks associated to linking biodiversity conservation to climate finance be managed? And what role will the Global Biodiversity Framework play in this effort?

This page will soon be updated with further information, including speakers and potential livestream options.
