Bold Actions for Food as a Force for Good: From Science to Policy: Creating the enabling environment for change

23 November 2020, 4:15 – 5:45 pm CET

Convened by thirteen co-organizers, including civil society, academia and the private sector, the Bold Actions for Food as a Force for Good is a pre-event to the UN Food Systems Summit (FSS) to take place in fall 2021.

A healthy food system is one with inclusive outcomes for people and planet, but to achieve this we will need to transform how we are producing and consuming our food. This shift needs to be informed by a collective understanding of the current challenges and guided by an evidence-based, common vision and collective solutions spaces for business action. Policy will be a key enabler, and therefore the collaboration between policymakers, academia, business and civil society will be crucial.

This session, co-organized by WBCSD and the Wageningen University, will bring together high-level representatives from civil society, science, government and business to discuss which policy recommendations are key to implement now, especially with a focus on how to bridge the gap between science and business. Building on the work of the World Business Council Sustainable Development’s Science-to-Policy Dialogues (September 2020) and the SDG conference organized in Wageningen (August 2018), this session will continue to build consensus and grow our common understanding of how each actor can take action now and how we together can create transformative pathways.
