Just Rural Transition Community Dialogue

29 April 2021, 3:00 – 4:30pm CEST

Producing the world’s food contributes to 25% of GHG emissions annually, ranks as the top extinction risk for 86% of endangered species, and leaves over 2 billion people, many of whom are food producers, food insecure. There is a clear and pressing need for a food systems transformation that places equitable livelihoods at its core. The Just Rural Transition is a UK-funded initiative putting people at the center of global efforts to transform food and land use systems to meet climate, biodiversity and sustainable development goals. WBCSD manages the Just Rural Transition’s Investment Partnerships workstream, which seeks to scale finance for sustainable and equitable agriculture.

On April 29th, the JRT Secretariat is hosting a Community Dialogue. This is an opportunity for all members of the Just Rural Transition community to ask questions, offer feedback and contribute ideas to the COP26 Sustainable Agriculture and a Just Rural Transition Campaign and the U.N. Food Systems Summit, through which we hope to deliver tangible progress in three areas: Policy Action, Investment Partnerships, and Agricultural Innovation. We encourage all interested parties to join us in contributing meaningfully towards a more equitable food system.
