Welcome to the AI for Decarbonization Series!

Co-hosted with Accenture and linked to WBCSD’s Emissions Reduction Accelerator, this three-part learning series is designed to help sustainability professionals understand how artificial intelligence can be applied in practice to accelerate decarbonization across organizations and value chains.

Session 1 | Foundations: AI × Sustainability

What is AI, and how is it relevant for sustainability and decarbonization?

You will:

  • Build a shared understanding of AI fundamentals in a sustainability context
  • Understand where AI can (and cannot) add value for sustainability outcomes
  • See how AI is already contributing to sustainability across sectors
  • Be introduced to the Emissions Reduction Accelerator (ERA) concept as a framing for emissions reduction

Session 2 | In Practice: AI Use Cases for Decarbonization (Panel Discussion) – Speakers will be announced later

How is AI being applied today to decarbonize value chains?

You will:

  • Learn from real-world, practitioner-led decarbonization use cases
  • Understand where AI fits across the value chain
  • Hear lessons learned, including challenges and trade-offs

Session 3 | Capability Building: AI Enablement for Sustainability Teams

How do organizations build capabilities to apply AI for sustainability?

You will:

  • Systematically examine how AI-enabled sustainability use cases are developed and applied
  • Gain exposure to tools that enable AI-for-sustainability use cases
  • Learn how AI can empower and augment the sustainability workforce
